I love new Bibles… there’s just something about those new crisp pages that draw me in.
It’s almost as if the pages know they were created to be read… they are so welcoming.
I was given the privilege recently to receive a beautiful new Bible for review.
The everyday matters Bible for women is a New Living Translation Bible packed full of great supplemental information, making this one of the most useful study Bibles I have ever owned.
The concept behind this Bible, created in partnership with Christianity Today’s women’s magazine, is to offer daily insight on the “everyday matters” of today’s Christian women.
This Bible focuses on twenty four spiritual disciplines– or practices- that are essentials in Christian spiritual growth.
Four types of features provide insight to each spiritual discipline:
- Everyday Matters– introduces major themes relevant to each spiritual discipline
- Everyday Profiles– profiles of a women or groups of women who practiced or highlighted a particular discipline
- Everyday Q&A’s– questions and answers that delve into a puzzling aspect of each spiritual practice
- Everyday Reflections– this feature showcases many writers and allows their voices to provide insight into a spiritual discipline
The twenty four spiritual disciplines included are: Acceptance, Bible Study and Meditation, Celebration, Community, Confession, Contemplation, Faith, Fasting, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Hospitality, Justice, Mentoring, Outreach, Prayer, Reconciliation, Sabbath and Rest, Service, Silence, Simplicity, Solitude, Stewardship, Submission, and Worship.
I have truly enjoyed incorporating this Bible into my daily quiet time. The daily reading on each spiritual discipline has been enriching to my spiritual walk- with each tidbit of information increasing my knowledge and understanding of spiritual principles.
