Let’s Go Geography, a weekly homeschool geography curriculum, is a fun and interactive way to travel the world with your children. With their Travel Journal in hand, your students will have a blast mapping, coloring, reading, singing and dancing their way through one country at a time as they explore the amazing world they live in.
My children have had such fun with Let’s Go Geography- Year 2 as they have experienced new cultures and locations around the world.
So How Does It Work?
Let’s Go Geography is a 3-year weekly homeschool geography curriculum aimed at K-5th graders. The years are broken down by location and each week has a focus on one particular country or geographical area. Each lesson is structured similarly which allows for low preparation time and easy teaching experience.
Lessons contain map and flag, coloring pages and crafts, suggested enrichment reading, and links to online video and audio clips which allow for a comprehensive and interactive experience. The structure lends itself to easy customization for your students. Older students have additional reading and writing projects, while younger students enjoy coloring and crafts with some guided reading included.
Lesson Breakdown-
While each lesson is not the same, most follow a similar structure that includes:
- MAP IT! – a chance to see how the country being studied fits into the world.
- THE FLAG – color the flag activity
- THE MUSIC – includes the country’s national anthem as well as additional traditional songs
- LET’S EXPLORE – facts, pictures, and culturally relevant information
- CREATE! – a craft project and coloring page
- PRINTABLES – the pages needed to complete the projects and coloring pages

How Did We Use Let’s Go Geography- Year 2?
One thing you should know about our homeschooling style is that we love to jump around in a curriculum. There have been very few cases where we use a curriculum exactly as it is structured and the great thing about Let’s Go Geography is that it lends itself beautifully to our need for flexibility. We did begin with Lesson 1- The Continents, but after the first week, I let the children pick which country they wanted to study next.
So far we have voyaged through Honduras, The Pacific Northwest, Jamaica, and Ireland. Each lesson has painted a beautiful picture of the country and the people that live there. The interactive aspect of the videos and music has been great for my busy boys, who rarely sit still. I love how the Travel Journal they created in Lesson 1 has kept all our activities together and they love sharing what they’ve learned with anyone willing to listen. I love that the flexibility of choosing the country of our choice, paired with the structure within the lessons gave us an easy to execute, fun and enjoyable learning experience.
A Peek Inside Let’s Go Geography:
The Continents-
The Pacific Northwest-
Jamaica-
Honduras-
Ireland-
Ireland was by far our favorite country we’ve studied so far. I’m not sure if it was the music itself, or the Irish Stepdance video we watched, but my boys just couldn’t get enough. And for me, the pictures and videos of the Irish castles were breathtaking and truly made me wish we could go visit in person. Ireland is on our bucket list now for sure!
Just in time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, the boys had a blast creating their colorful shamrocks!
What Did We Love?
There was so much to love about Let’s Go Geography. I think my very favorite part was just how easy it is to implement into our daily routine. The lessons are short and follow a rhythm that makes it simple to complete.
My boys loved the variety of activities that kept them busy but wasn’t just busywork. They enjoyed learning about how the countries we studied fit into the world with the map work and they love seeing all the different flags from each country. The crafts are easy enough to finish before they got bored and made this not so crafty mama feel good about adding some art into our week.
Honestly, I loved the amount of information provided in each lesson. It was much more in-depth than I first thought it would be. The photos and videos took us into the country in a way we haven’t experienced before. The array of optional atlas and reading work gave me confidence that as my boys grow, this program will grow with us.
What Did We Not Love?
The one thing that I thought upfront that I wasn’t going to love was the video links that lead to YouTube. We try to keep our boys off YouTube as much as possible and I was worried about what they might encounter on that site. I was pleasantly surprised to see that most of the video links lead to the Safe YouTube site, so this was not the issue I thought it was going to be.
